Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of content on Dinwiddie County Criminal History. Using the website means accepting all terms below. Anyone who does not agree with them must stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. Dinwiddie County Criminal History is private and has no government affiliation. It and its advertising partners do not offer a consumer-reporting service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or another Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) purpose. This is a Virginia records-reference resource, not a private-investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site that operates independently of every public office. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves them, performs official checks, or submits government forms.

Its role is to identify the official Dinwiddie County Sheriff's Office, local court clerks, Virginia State Police Central Criminal Records Exchange, and Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry channels, along with optional third-party research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is conditioned on an agreement not to:

  • Interfere with access, performance, or availability for other users
  • Use the content for a hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decision
  • Violate a federal, Virginia, or local law
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account
  • Use information to stalk, threaten, or harass another person

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information obtained here or through a linked service may not be used to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or unlawfully discriminate. Virginia's Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry is public-notification data governed by Va. Code § 9.1-900 et seq. Misuse against a registrant may carry criminal consequences. Its purpose is lawful public-safety awareness, never vigilantism or a prohibited employment or housing blacklist.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Dinwiddie County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create credit reports, background checks, or consumer reports. The same limitation applies to how data reached through the website may be used. It cannot support:

  • An employment decision
  • A rental or other housing determination
  • Creditworthiness or insurance pricing
  • Eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
  • Any other activity regulated by the FCRA

A legally permissible check for a regulated purpose must come through the appropriate Virginia State Police process or an FCRA-compliant provider.

5. No Legal Advice

General explanations of Dinwiddie County records are not legal advice and cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, expungement, or sealing law applies to a particular person. Seek advice from a Virginia-licensed attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are provided "as is," without a guarantee that:

  • Partner results are complete, accurate, or correctly matched
  • Every page remains current and error-free
  • Access will always be continuous
  • The service is free of bugs or security defects

Charges, dispositions, sealing orders, and agency procedures change. Gaps or stale details may result, and no website statement should be treated as an official act or certification from a court, sheriff, or Virginia agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

A link may lead to a sheriff, court, Virginia agency, legal resource, or outside search service. We do not control another site's availability, content, privacy practices, charges, or results. Its own terms apply after a visitor leaves this website.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Dinwiddie County Criminal History or the applicable content partner. Copying, modification, distribution, or creation of derivative content requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the greatest extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for damage arising from use of the website, including reliance on its content or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the website or breach of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. Public-record access remains subject to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Va. Code § 2.2-3700 et seq., and criminal-history dissemination is limited by Va. Code § 19.2-389. A dispute connected with website use must be brought in a court located in Virginia.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised. A posted revision becomes effective when it appears on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected provision will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
